AKRON, Ohio (Reuters) - Two consecutive three-putts cost Irishman Padraig Harrington early momentum in the third round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Saturday.

After reeling off three birdies in his first five holes, the British Open champion dropped three shots at the sixth and seventh on his way to a two-over-par 72.

That left him on three-over 213 after another day of gruelling golf at fast-running Firestone Country Club.

"The first five holes I had good chances on all of them but missed a couple of putts," Harrington told reporters after finishing seven strokes off the early lead. "Everything is looking good and then I lost the focus.

The 35-year-old Dubliner, who won his first major title in last month's British Open at Carnoustie, reached the turn in one-over 36 and parred the next eight holes before signing off with a bogey at the last.
