Virgin Media promises 50Mbps broadband02.02.2008 02:17 Computers Virgin Media intends to roll out 50Mbps broadband to UK customers, and will more than double standard access speeds.
Existing Virgin customers in the 'L' band payment plan will see standard speeds rise from 4Mbps to 10Mbps following exchange upgrades in late February. The company is also planning 50Mbps connections to over nine million UK homes by the end of 2008. "Virgin Media's cable network gives us a natural superiority over other broadband services, and we are delighted to reward our customers with this free upgrade," said Neil Berkett, acting chief executive of Virgin Media. "We have barely scratched the surface of what is possible with our cable network, and we will continue to look for new ways to satisfy growing demand for even faster broadband in the UK." The news will come as a blow to BT, which has been trumpeting plans to offer 24Mbps services by 2011. News source: vnunet Source: techzonez.comwww.alllee.com |
