Deja vu: MSDN and TechNet subscribers get XP SP3 "early"

After numerous complaints from TechNet and MSDN subscribers that they would be receiving Windows XP Service Pack 3 RTM three days after it hit Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center, and reports that the final build had also hit torrent sites before a legitimate download link was handed out, Microsoft gave in.

Despite plans for a May 2 release, both groups now have access to the final build of XP SP3 (5512), which weighs in at 544.86MB. There is yet no information on Microsoft Volume Licensing customers or Microsoft Connect beta testers getting the same treatment.

Microsoft recently saw a backlash very similar to this one with Windows Vista SP1. The same Microsoft communities had to fight the software giant and eventually convinced the company to give them the RTM build early. One might think that Microsoft would not make the same mistake twice, but...
